DESIGNER HANDBAG cupcakes. nuff said.

24 Feb

i’m trying to blog only when i find something super pertinent to talk about, or if there is something that i absolutely adore and want to shout from the rooftops!

Well this is one of those moments.

In my daily blog research, i stumbled across some cake blog that introduced me to this:

i need not say anymore.

Gucci?  YES. PLEASE.

Fendi? YES. PLEASE.

And Chanel.  And Prada.  And Louis. OH MY!  Check out more info about my new confection obsession here.

Two of my passions combined make me a very happy girl.  I mean, look at the detail on those badboys!  Mucho props!   P.S. My birthday is December 20th for those of you wondering. Preciate yas :)

hoity-toity hollywood wannabe twits

21 Feb

so, living in west hollywood definitely has its perks.  Everything I could potentially need is in walking distance.     “CT Nails #9″ is one of my favorite places to visit because it’s on my block and a manicure is the measly cost of $10 BONES.

CT Nails #9 offers more than just a $10 manicure.  It’s a site for people watching and pure comedic value.  David runs the show and he is the airbrush extraordinaire.   I had to partake.  He had over 100 different designs!  Of course, “80′s cheetah print” was my style du jour.

The question at hand is this.  Does David actually “run the show” or does the show RUN him?  I am positive that this establishment is frequented by the “Hoity-Toity Hollywood Wannabe Twits”.  (present company excluded :) )  Every single time I have visited, (6 times in total) i have encountered:

  • a.) some gal on the phone with someone presumably important, discussing the industry while a script is in her lap
  • b.) some demanding model-type who demands to be treated like royalty by yelling this David character, and the next thing you know, he assigns one of his minions to give her a back-rub while she waits or
  • c.) some outraged customer who is very loud and vocal about their discontent and storms out in fury.  An Asian lady with broken english who was so pissed she left her cell phone on the table.  a couple mins later, her cell phone rings. “Pony” by Genuwine. (uh….whaaaat?)  sh*t you not.

I, clearly don’t fit into a, b, or c, so with that in mind I will go ahead and create

  • d.) someone with southern hospitality who’s just trying to get a cheap manicure in peace.  Does that qualify ME for a neck massage???

I secretly snicker/SMH/feel sorry for David because his customers seem to embody the California stereotype that “the people here suck”.  They go in there demanding for top-notch service with a piss-poor attitude.   I, however, usually take my traditional catholic “go in peace” type of an exit with a smile and a “thanks, have a beautiful day” and feel good knowing that southern hospitality will always accompany me wherever i go.

SPEAKING OF COOL:  the OPI Texas collection, “Austin-tatious Turquoise” – I LOVE. (not just a clever name) and if you visit the OPI website, they have partnered with Dell to “match your nails to your emails”.  AUSTIN, TEXAS on the COME UP!!!!!!! yeaaaah son.

what a totally amazing, excellent discovery…..NOT!

15 Feb

Tonight.  Dinner at Velvet Margarita Cantina in Hollywood, with my bestie, Z-Money.  (my homegirl was craving cheeps and salooooosa)  It was eh, but the company was fabuloso.  I had a “smoked salmon quesadilla”.  WOOF.

Over margs and casual convo, I came to the realization that “Wayne’s World” influences my daily life a whole lot more than i ever noticed….until now.  Is it because perhaps, in some way, Wayne Campbell and I are both pursuing similar interests?  That, and he is AWESOME.  and who didn’t LOVEWayne’s World” growing up in the 90′s?  I, for one, gotta say that when i saw this GEM of a DVD on the shelf of my fave ATX thrift shop for the BARGAIN PRICE of 5 bones…you KNOW i had to holler.  ”It will be mine….oh yes, it will be mine!” ha.

remember this?

now, feast your eyes on this.  Date: 11/12/2010, Japanese Mama’s birfday.    I know some of you have seen this before, but it’s worth a second look…i still die laughing!

If i aspire to be more like Wayne, i probably shouldn’t pull a STACY…..in real life.

VD double wham-bam!

14 Feb

this Valentine’s Day is a two-fer! GET THIS:

i was just cruising dictionary.com, and came across an interesting article about the word, “ironic”.  Apparently, it is one of the “most overused and abused words in the english language”. People use it often to describe somewhat of “coincidences”, when in actuality, it literally means the opposite of it’s literal meaning.

Ok, so that reminded me of this coincidental incident…today, i got 2 different texts from 2 different people, in the SAME minute, saying just about the SAME thing. I feel compelled to share.

This is from Friend NO. 1. (to the left)

As you can see, “FEB. 14, 2011 10:49AM”

and this would be Friend NO. 2. (to the right)

SAME. EXACT. TIME/DATE.  whatchuknowaboutdat?

2 different conversations with 2 different people led to the almost exact same response at the EXACT same time!!!!

what’s ironic about this is *MAYBE* just *MAYBE* what’s to come of my future here in LA is an example of dramatic irony? and if so, then maybe Friend NO. 1 and Friend NO. 2 are the “audience” and can see my future a lot more brighter and clearer than that of the “characters” (aka ME)?  I mean, let’s be real that would be PRETTY COOOOOL.  Or maybe, the response of my 2 friends is the direct opposite of what’s to happen for me in the future and then, that would be an example of verbal irony or even situational irony.

and of course, all you can do is stay positive no matter WHAT happens.  i guess we’ll see how irony plays out in my future. :)

VD2011: my heart’s desire.

14 Feb

I’m going to take this time and share with you MY TRUE LOVE on this glorious Valentine’s Day, 2011.

1. my job. without which, this LA adventure might never be possible.  doing pretty important things on the sony pictures lot. ;)  pretty freaking sweet gig i just happened to land.  pretty freaking blessed, if i do say so myself.

2. “Bleeding Heart Cupcakes” . Get the recipe here. SO creative and SO scrum-diddley-ump!  One year for Valentine’s Day,  I baked heart shaped mini cakes for my friends and decorated them as conversation hearts and personalized each one.  ”Sweethearts”, however, are a thing of the past.  BLEEDING HEARTS have stolen this sweet heart o’ mine!

3. Bond No. 9′s High Line.  I. LOVE.  if i had a valentine, I would hope my prince charming would have bought me this to commemorate the holiday.  *WISHFUL THINKING* (insert Wayne’s World dream sequence sound and motion “Diddle liddle da, diddle liddle da”) cut to: Ashley, running through a field of high grass, clicking her heels and jumping through the spritzes of “high line”.  *BACK TO REALITY*

4. Really, I have to pay homage to the creature in which really owns my heart, far more important than any of my superficial desires.  This is the sweet baby; who I wake up to every single day, giving me kisses or leg cramps because he’s such a chubby cuddle buddy and he hogs my side o’ the bed.  Cheers to you, sweet Tate! xoxo

Happy Valentine’s Day to all, and I hope you know how loved and adored you are, not only today, but EVERYDAY by so many people!  Today is an amazing day to stop and smell the “HIGH LINE” and realize how blessed you truly are!  <3

And i shall leave you with this: *ONE* of my very favorite 80′s LOVE songs…(and the song I envisioned “my first wedding dance” to, as a child. :P i know you did too, Babasgwrl…..)

the allure of CALPICO

8 Feb

Q: What is Calpico, you ask?

Well, do I have an answer for you.  I discovered this BLISS IN A CAN last week while having dinner in Little Tokyo.  Immediately, my friend Loris Lane and I were fascinated with the way in which this fabulous drink is packaged so we both gave it a whirl.  How cool is this can?!  Plus, anything Japanese is right up my alley.

“Non- Carbonated Soft Drink”, “Refreshingly Sweet and Sour”, “Original Flavor” turns out to be milky in color and a cross between a lemon meringue pie and an orange creamsicle…that was the conclusion. Doesn’t that sound dreamy?!  Served over ice….YES PLEASE!

In my own interests, I googled my new favorite drink and encourage you to do the same!  go here. I was instantly attracted to it’s POLKA DOT web design. (similar much to my own?) Perhaps me and Calpico are indeed cut from the same cloth.  Here’s some reasons why CALPICO rocks my world even MORE after visiting the website:

  • there is a list of recipes and cocktails to help you incorporate more CALPICO into your life.
  • The FAQ’s section addresses very important and pertinent questions like “When can my baby start drinking CALPICO?” (i mean, i, for one, would definitely like to know how early I can bring Calpico into my future child’s life….ssshyeah!)
  • did you know? Calpico is supposedly the “world’s first lactobacillic drink”!?  it’s good for you and hey! it’s preeeeetty cool. (said in SNL Miley fashion….)

Wayne and Garth would give this “two enthusiastic thumbs up”.  Facebook would give one, with the push of the “Like” button.  Just give me a sixer of these badboys and my heart is content.

It’s a…BLOG?!?!!

8 Feb

I’d like to announce the birth of my new BABY!

Nameashleyinquisitive

Date: February 8th, 2010, 9:35pm

Location: West Hollywood, CA

Mom and baby are doing FANTASTIC! Congrats to everyone! :)

So I finally took the plunge and created a BLOG.  Let me tell you, this has been a long time coming, so excuse me while i figure out how to use this dad-gum thing!  My anxiety in creating a blog (which is the cause for the such delay…) is mainly 2 things. a.) I could never narrow down a specific topic in which to discuss on said blog and b.) i am terribly OCD about image and appearance.  (in other words, I’m really picky about what my very own blog should “look” like, and then i ran out of money hiring someone to create www.ashrachelle.com, which, in result, i turn to wordpress, which so far, so good.  I guarantee the look of ashleyinquisitive will change as I attempt to create my ideal place on webspace that will encapsulate everything my little heart desires.

So bare with me.

And STAY TUNED.  I hope for big things, and plan to be the best blog mom i could ever be to this sweet little bundle of joy that the Lord has blessed me with!  It’s actually pretty fun.   This is totally an outlet for the creative soul, and I might as well put that English degree/writing skillz to some use, eh?

Wish me luck… xo
